Bible
- Every Monday, a memory verse note card is due to be turned in first thing; each Friday, students will present the memory verse for a quiz grade. For 2nd semester, students are asked to memorize successive verses so that by the end of the semester, they will have a cohesive section of the Bible memorized.
- Every Friday, students are to turn in one reflection in their Bible notebooks in which they reflect on their walk with the Lord during the week.
World Literature
- War Inquiry Project: Students read books they proposed independently for the unit all the way back in first quarter; beginning Jan. 26th, students will be presenting on their assigned dates for 25 minutes (or 50 minutes if they singed up for a full class period). The presentations need to teach the class about the project they designed, inform us about the books/topic studied, create an assignment that engages us as a class in actively learning about the topic, and overall help us to understand the primary lessons to be taken from those texts and that project. A bibliography is due on Wednesday, January 25th; the WT entries aren’t due until the presentation day. Students will end the unit engaging in a Socratic seminar. See handouts provided for information and check student planners for presentation dates.
- WT assignments: WTs are assigned weekly and are checked/assessed each quarter.
Senior English
Long term project: Semester Inquiry Projects will begin the finalizing process on the last week of January. See handout provided for information.
WT assignments: WTs are assigned weekly and are checked/assessed each quarter.
Introduction to Literature
- Students are currently working on their Sonnets; see handouts for more information.
- We will have a Poetry Slam on Friday, January 27th at which students will read their sonnets aloud and present them! For that day, I ask that students wear all black (to get into that artsy mood) and they may bring in snacks and hot chocolate.
- WT Assignments: These are due once or twice each quarter; students respond to prompts assigned weekly and also take all their notes inside; please see rubric for grading, and check to see that labels and dates are easy to find.
