ACSI provides a
mathematical curriculum which is thorough in skill and concept
development. It also includes a systematic review and extension
of concepts and process skills. Biblical truths are integrated
in natural ways through the curriculum in a yearly theme
format. Students are introduced to concrete, real-world
problems and moved to age appropriate mastery of skills through
practice exercises. The teaching experience aims for both
conceptual understanding with an appropriate balance of drill
and practice and an understanding of related mathematical
concepts. Multiple resource materials, including manipulatives,
are provided to enhance the teaching/learning experience of all
children. Students apply skills by using their own colorful
work pages in the student book.
Parents receive a home letter as students progress
to each new chapter and skill level. The following mathematical
concepts are covered within each grade level: addition;
subtraction; multiplication; division; patterns; number theory;
place value; fractions and decimals; measurement; time; money;
geometry; algebra; probability and statistics; and technology.
