Personal Testimony

I grew up in a Christian home where I went to church every Sunday.  It was at age 13 that I recognized my need for a savior.  I gave my life to Christ in 1999 while attending a youth camp in Arkansas.  Even though I had been saved I struggled to remain consistent in my walk with the Lord until I was in college.  It wasn’t until college that God really got a hold of me and taught me complete dependence on Him in all areas of life.  God took me away from the things that were familiar to me in order get me alone with Him to teach me to rely on Him and Him alone.  During this time in my life I felt physical loneliness, but for the first time I really felt alive spiritually.  God took me away from life’s little distractions in order to get my attention and focus where it needed to be, on Him.  In this time God taught me so much about myself by allowing me to examine my life and think about who I was and who I needed to be in Him.

General Goals and Responsibilities

As a history teacher my main goal is to teach students not just the value of studying history and learning from the past, but to display for them how to study history with a Christian World View.  I want students to be able to study history and see how God was at work at particular points in time and how His past works can still apply to us today as history continues to be written.   I pray that students will know and understand the value of historical study in relation to the Christian life.
